The Proctor Roofshield is a unique, three layer, non-woven, spunbonded, polypropylene breather membrane with a patented melt-blown core. Roofshield's intended use is for a pitched roof underlay and is fixed beneath tiles and slates. It is a cost effective solution to controlling interstitial condensation in a pitched roof.

Our Aspatria branch is over to the west of the Lake District. We opened the branch in 2012, prior to which it had been a Paper Recycling centre. The branch is frequented by farmers from the local area often looking for advice on projects. Builders, Plasters, Joiners and Plumbers will be pleased to find a wide range of products and materials to suit them as well.

A hardworking team of five run the Aspatria branch. Manager Richard Gunn has over 20 years experience in the industry with a particular interest and a depth of knowledge in Roofing and Drainage.

There's Tom our senior salesman who began his career with us as an apprentice in our Cockermouth branch.

The other half of the sales department is Joe who has over 18 years experience and has worked his way into sales from starting out in the yard.

David is our driver making sure your goods are delivered carefully and on time.

Then to round the team up there is Darren who looks after the Yard and Warehouse, he's been with us since just after we opened and came to being a builder's merchant through the construction industry.

After a break of 15 years we are delighted to be back in Barnard Castle with our new branch on Harmire Enterprise Park (formally Jewson) and look forward to seeing all customers old and new.

Visit our branch in Penrith and our incredibly experienced staff will meet you. We’ve been here since the mid-1970s making JT Atkinson the first (and probably the best) builder’s merchant in Penrith. We are also one of the largest out of 15 JT Atkinson branches.

We moved to our current site in 1990, Althams, traditional ironmongers who had traded here since 1844, had previously occupied it.

Our tool hire services and flood defence capability really set us apart as a branch. We have a test tank for all the flood prevention products we stock so that you can rest assured they are going to do the job they promise. In the past we have worked with environment agencies including the Eden district in order to supply and support our local communities.

Managing all of this we have Gary Atkinson and he does a fantastic job at making sure all our customers leave happy, with everything they came in for.

"Hello, I am writing this email to yourself just to say a massive thank you to both JT Atkinson and Howard Braithwaite .

My house was flooded in Kendal in December 2015,and our family life was turned upside down,we lost everything,as we were away on holiday at the time,we came home to devastation! Our house has been re-built since then back into a loving home for us all to enjoy and live in. So,now hears the bits that stops it all happening again.

If it wasn't for Howard and JT Atkinson,I'd have been lost,there so many product and ideas out there,Its so easy to got lost while Googleing ‘how to keep my house safe from floods’ , but coming to see your self really helped. I first met Howard at a roadshow back in September at K-village (flood defence roadshow) in Kendal,where there where so many ‘car salesman like’ people trying to sell you products without explaining what they fully did.

Howard explained how and what I needed to make my house safe,and went through everything I asked him. It was a real weight off my shoulders talking to a real person, face to face, about flood defences. Also, he is alway on the end of the phone or email to ask further advice, which is fantastic, his knowledge is second to none, brilliant.

As I am doing all the work my self, I was going to really struggle to pay the ££££'s up front first before SLDC would pay me back. So both Howard of JT Atkinson and Tom McCormick of South Lakeland District Council got there heads together and sorted it all out for me .

SLDC paid JT Atkinson for the flood defences on my behalf directly, which was a massive help, I could not have done it with out them, it all went through so quickly and I picked up all my gates and airbrick covers etc last week without any delays or issues. Absolute perfect.

I would fully recommend anyone else needing any flood defences etc to use JT Atkinson. All the products are top quality, and not over the top on price at all! Thank you again to all involved in helping me and my family!"
